Warranty terms – Findoor.lv

These warranty terms apply to exterior doors, door components and hardware sold by SIA FinDoor.

Warranty period: 24 months.
The warranty period is two years from the day the Goods are handed over or delivered. Adjustment and periodic maintenance are not warranty cases.

1. General provisions

1.1. These terms set out the procedure for applying the warranty to exterior doors, door components and hardware sold by SIA FinDoor.

1.2. Seller:

SIA FinDoor
Reg. No.: 40203665473
Legal address: Lakstīgalu iela 22, Bauska, Bauskas novads, LV-3901
E-mail: [email protected]
Phone: +371 26262005

1.3. The Goods must be transported, stored, installed, used and maintained in accordance with their intended use and the manufacturer's instructions.

1.4. These terms do not limit the consumer's rights laid down in the legal acts of the Republic of Latvia.

2. Warranty period

2.1. The warranty period is 24 (twenty-four) months from the day the Goods are handed over to the Buyer or delivered to the address indicated by the Buyer.

3. What the warranty covers

The warranty covers non-conformity of the Goods caused by a manufacturing, design or material defect, including:

  • defects in the materials of the product's construction;
  • defects in the finishing materials and in the finish applied at the factory;
  • the shape stability of the product, taking into account a permissible deviation of up to 2 mm/m and a difference in diagonals of up to 1 mm/m;
  • manufacturing or fitting defects of the hardware installed at the factory, except for natural wear and regular maintenance;
  • damage that occurred during transport, if the transport was organised by FinDoor and the damage has been recorded in accordance with section 7.

4. What the warranty does not cover

The warranty does not apply to damage or changes caused by:

  • natural wear of the lock, hinges, door closer, handle, seal or threshold;
  • impact, scratching, denting or other mechanical damage after acceptance of the Goods;
  • improper transport, moving or storage carried out by the Buyer or a third party chosen by the Buyer;
  • improper installation, if the installation was carried out by the Buyer or a third party chosen independently by the Buyer;
  • improper use or failure to carry out maintenance, if this caused or substantially aggravated the specific damage;
  • planing, sawing, drilling, repainting or other modification without prior agreement with FinDoor, if the modification is connected with the damage found;
  • aggressive chemical substances, strong solvents, abrasive cleaning agents or residues of building materials;
  • prolonged or excessive exposure to moisture, a leak of water or steam, construction moisture, insufficient ventilation or direct precipitation at an inadequately protected installation location;
  • flooding, fire, mechanical damage caused by a storm, vandalism or other external circumstances beyond FinDoor's control;
  • movement of the building structures, foundations or the installation opening.

Exterior doors are intended for use in outdoor conditions. Ordinary exposure to rain, sun, frost or temperature fluctuations is not in itself grounds for refusing the warranty.

5. Installation and liability

5.1. If the installation was carried out by a partner craftsman recommended by FinDoor, whom the Buyer pays for the installation separately, the Buyer may inform FinDoor about the problem found. FinDoor helps to coordinate the assessment of the situation with the craftsman.

5.2. A manufacturing defect of the Goods is handled under the warranty. Non-conformity of the installation service is assessed and remedied by the relevant installation service provider.

5.3. If the installation was carried out by the Buyer or by a craftsman chosen independently by the Buyer, the warranty does not apply to damage caused by improper installation.

5.4. An error in the measurements, the size of the opening, the opening direction or another order specification made by the Buyer or by a person chosen by the Buyer is not a defect of the Goods.

5.5. The Buyer must provide access to the Goods for inspection and for carrying out warranty work.

If the door has been built in, clad or fixed in such a way that inspection or replacement requires the dismantling and restoration of the surrounding structures, the scope and cost of this work are assessed separately, to the extent permitted by the legal acts.

6. Use, storage and maintenance

6.1. Storage and protection before installation

Until installation, the Goods must be stored in a dry place on a level surface. If the Goods are temporarily stored outdoors, they must be protected from water and from direct exposure to the weather, while ensuring air circulation between the Goods and the protective material.

During construction work, exposure to construction moisture, dust, paint, plaster and other building materials must be prevented.

It is not recommended to stick adhesive tape directly onto the painted surface. If an obvious non-conformity or damage is found before installation, the Goods must not be installed before the situation has been agreed with FinDoor.

6.2. Annual inspection and maintenance

The Buyer must carry out a general inspection and maintenance of the door at least once a year and additionally as needed.

For doors subject to intensive use or increased exposure to the weather, maintenance may be required more often.

  • the door leaf, frame, seals, hinges, gaps, closing and locking must be checked;
  • the hinges and the strike plate must be adjusted as needed so that the door fits evenly against the seal and closes and locks easily;
  • the hinges, lock bolts, cylinder and other moving parts must be lubricated with suitable products;
  • the fixing screws of the handle, lock, cylinder and other hardware must be checked and tightened as needed, avoiding excessive tightening;
  • if a door closer is fitted, it must be checked, adjusted and maintained in accordance with its manufacturer's instructions;
  • painted surfaces, glass and the threshold must be cleaned with water and a mild, neutral cleaning agent; abrasive products, strong solvents, acetone or paint removers must not be used.

6.3. Adjustment and maintenance are NOT warranty cases

IMPORTANT!

Adjusting the hinges, lock, strike plate and door closer, as well as tightening the screws of the handle, lock and other hardware, is periodic maintenance, not a warranty case.

During use, the door mechanisms and seals settle and adjustment may become necessary.

This may show as uneven gaps, difficult closing or locking, insufficient pressure against the seal or changes in the operation of the door closer.

The need for this maintenance work does not in itself indicate a manufacturing defect of the Goods and does not create a right to request a free craftsman visit.

If the Buyer wishes, FinDoor can carry out the maintenance or help arrange a visit by a FinDoor partner craftsman. This is a paid service; the service provider, the price and the payment procedure are agreed before the work is carried out.

If the inspection establishes a manufacturing defect of the Goods, the matter is handled under the warranty. Failure to carry out maintenance affects the warranty assessment only if it caused or substantially aggravated the specific damage.

7. Time limits for reporting damage and non-conformities

1. Visible transport damage.
Must be recorded immediately upon receipt of the Goods, indicated in the delivery or acceptance document and photographed.

2. Obvious visual non-conformities.
Must be checked and reported before installation. Once installation has started, a visual non-conformity is not in itself considered a manufacturing defect, except where it was objectively not detectable before installation.

3. Other defects discovered during use.
Must be reported in writing no later than 1 (one) month from the day the Buyer discovered the non-conformity or should reasonably have discovered it, also observing the overall time limit laid down by law.

8. Submission and handling of a warranty claim

8.1. The claim must be submitted in writing, preferably by e-mail to [email protected]. A telephone call alone is not sufficient.

8.2. The claim must state the order number or other information identifying the order, the model of the Goods and a detailed description of the problem. Current photographs must be attached and, if this helps to identify the problem, also a video.

8.3. FinDoor is entitled to request additional information and to agree on an inspection of the Goods. Receipt of a warranty claim does not in itself mean that the case has been recognised as a warranty case.

8.4. If the inspection establishes that the problem is not a manufacturing defect of the Goods but that adjustment, maintenance or another chargeable activity is required, the possible call-out and work charge is notified before the service is carried out.

8.5. FinDoor provides a reply within a reasonable time, but no later than 15 working days from receipt of the claim.

If additional information or an inspection of the Goods is required for an objective assessment, the Buyer is informed of this, and in such a case the above time limit is counted from the day FinDoor received all the information referred to in clause 8.2 or the inspection of the Goods was ensured.

9. Warranty remedy

9.1. If a manufacturing defect of the Goods is confirmed, FinDoor ensures that the non-conformity is remedied in accordance with the circumstances of the particular case and the applicable legal acts.

9.2. The consumer is first entitled to choose the free remedying of the non-conformity of the Goods or the replacement of the Goods, except where the chosen remedy is impossible or disproportionate.

9.3. In the cases laid down by law, the consumer may request a price reduction or the cancellation of the contract and a refund of the money paid for the Goods.

9.4. Nothing in these terms limits the consumer's rights that cannot be derogated from under the legal acts.
